spark to FLAME is the latest collection of songs from Zone One. Written over the last two years, this collection represents some classic rock and pop style songs as well as some politically themed songs.
The idea of spark to FLAME is how just learning to start a fire, we have been able to tame the power of the Sun. From such small beginnings huge things can be the result. It's up to us to tame what we create. It also describes what happens when folks are denied their rights. Soon a spark turns into a flame of fury as people demand that their rights be respected.

This song is a dreamy song about breaking up.

This is a cover by the Moody Blues and I always wanted to do a more upbeat version. This is the second attempt at this song as I can't seem to leave it alone. I also received a wha-wha peddle from one of my sons for Christmas and had a ball with it on this song.

This song started out as background music for an outdoors video and even without the video, it's a nice mellow song to relax to.

This is one of my first ukulele songs. It's such a fun and happy instrument. This song is about finding someone to go have adventures with.

This song is about just slowing down and paying attention to all the wonderful things we would otherwise miss in our fast paced world. I actually got the idea for this song while checking out Rachel, Nevada which is near the infamous Area-51. The phrase, "not so fast" popped into my head and I knew I had to write a song based on that phrase.

This started out as a joke with a friend who kept procrastinating in sending me his music so that I could copyright it for him. It started out as something I would say on his voicemail and eventually it started to have a ring to it, so I wrote the song. It's not often that I start with the lyrics first but this is one.

This is another instrumental I wrote as background music for some outdoor adventure videos. It stands on its own and is a slightly more aggressive groove but still chill.

This song started out as more of a ballad but as I struggled with the lyrics, other lyrics started to pop up and it eventualy became the political song it is now.
Music & Lyrics By Todd Schacherl
This is a political song that reflects on the stupidity that makes up so much of the political discource these days.

This song is actually quite old. We originally recorded this on a Tascam PortaStudio 4-track recorder. We used a Casio keyboard for the drums. We had this guitar part, what we call the "wha-da-wha" part but when we recorded the second vocal track we accidently overwrote that guitar part, except for the very first one. Once we did that, we couldn't fix it. That caused us to put the track down and forget about it. I recently came across the 4-track and decided to record it directly to my computer. With some modern cut and paste I was able to recover that "wha-da-wha" and put it back to where it belongs. Next was to replace the Casio drums. Since I was no longer restricted to four tracks, I worked on the guitar parts and created the wha-wha lead. It's quite the difference from how it started more than 30 years ago.
